Energy Auditing

One Stop Energy Services performs a comprehensive analysis of a building’s energy usage. To do this a number of tasks must be performed. These include modeling of the building’s energy usage, on-site evaluations of the building operations, determining the integrity of the building envelope, and logging of data to determine how the systems are operating. Each task helps create a detailed picture of the building’s operation and allows us to locate and quantify items that can be modified to reduce energy usage. At the end of the process a detailed report is developed that describes the opportunities to reduce energy usage in which each opportunity is quantified through a calculated return on investment. The report provides a comprehensive roadmap for the owner to determine what investments should be made to the building in the future.

Building modeling and energy auditing
Building Modeling

Building simulation is the cornerstone in determining how changes in a buildings operation/equipment will effect energy usage. We develop a calibrated building model from engineering drawings, occupant interviews, and site investigations. After all the data is input numerous situations are run as Energy Efficiency Measures (EEM) to quantify the energy savings from upgrades and changes to the building. To accomplish this we utilize IES VE-Pro, Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) and the Department of Energy’s EQUEST Software suites.

Building Envelope

The building envelope is an important component in all buildings. Locating areas of energy loss and minimizing those losses is a key step in reducing energy usage and improving occupant comfort. We have invested in the tools to properly determine where your building envelope has deficiencies. These tools include blower door’s to pressurize and determine the amount of air leakage and thermal imaging equipment to locate where the leaks are occurring.

Energy audits include on-site visits and data logging

On-site Inspection and Data Gathering

Every building operates differently depending on the integration between all the mechanical and electrical systems, as well as how the occupants of the building utilize it. By spending time observing the operation of the building and talking with the building occupants we are able to locate areas of energy loss that can not be modeled with software. Collection of operational data through stand alone data gathering devices provides insight into system operational deficiencies. Adjustment of many items found from on-site visits have quick payback and instantaneous effect. Our teams extensive field experience and building knowledge allows them to locate these deficiencies and provide guidance on how to remedy them.
